You don’t need to be an art expert to feel something.
United Smile Art Gallery grows from a simple belief: our differences enrich the world. Art gives us room to see things differently. A work of art, each other and ourselves.
We want to create a gallery where different cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities and life experiences can be seen. Where artists tell their own stories and visitors discover their own meanings.
A place for distinctive art and an unexpected conversation. For a work that stays with you. And for the smile that can spark a connection.
This story starts in Utrecht. Our ambition is for United Smile to become a place for art and connection in other cities too, with the same open spirit and local artists of their own.

Every artist brings
a world with them.
Art can start a conversation.
We want to make space for people to meet.
A voice of your own.
We want to work with artists from a wide range of backgrounds, including artists with a refugee background. Making room for their art, ideas and craftsmanship.
Person to person.
At an opening or artist talk, you meet the person behind the work. Each artist chooses what they want to share. There is room to look, ask questions and discover something of each other’s world.
Opening the doors together.
We are exploring how a dedicated team of volunteers can help welcome visitors and bring people together. Interested in joining as an artist or volunteer? Tell Ward how you would like to contribute.

Our first opening
is taking shape.
We are creating a place for changing exhibitions, openings and conversations with artists. We will share the first date and confirmed location as soon as they are settled.

A gallery in the making
United Smile Art Gallery is in development. Ward’s current studio is at De Havenloods, in Utrecht’s Werkspoorkwartier. We are exploring how the gallery can grow here.

There are no regular opening hours yet. Please get in touch in advance to discuss a possible studio visit. We will then confirm the arrangements and practical details.
